Water Purification
Clean drinking water is essential to life. Although it is something that we here in the US take for granted, water born illnesses like typhoid kill at least 2 million people every year. I don't know about you, but if I go too long without drinking water, I start to have a hard time concentrating and I feel tired and lethargic. Many generous and caring people throughout the US sponsor children in third world countries so that they can go to school. But without an adequate supply of clean drinking water, they battle sickness and have a difficult time studying no matter how hard they try.
Ten Talents International has installed 5 water purification systems in Rwanda so that thousands of children and adults no longer have to choose between dehydration and disease. We want to be able to continue to provide more of these systems in the years to come. Each system costs about $1200. We would also like to be able to provide 1000 "Life Straws" to those who are unable to make it to one of our water purification systems. These "Life Straws" cost us $3 each and will provide up to 185 gallons of safe drinking water to an individual.
